A More Flexible Dye Penetration System for Pharmaceutical Packaging
The redesigned CDV Pharma combines an optimized chamber, an independent PLC control module and multiple vacuum- or pressure-based test configurations.
It is intended for pharmaceutical laboratories that need to evaluate different package formats while maintaining clear visual access, controlled test conditions and configurable documentation options.
Designed around real pharmaceutical laboratory constraints.
Packaging formats continue to evolve. Taller containers, larger bottles, blisters and thicker flexible packages can require more usable chamber height without creating an unnecessarily large dye bath.
The updated architecture balances packaging clearance, immersion-fluid consumption, operator visibility, maintenance access and future control options.
- Flexible package formats
- Rigid pharmaceutical containers
- Immersion dye testing
- Vacuum and pressure methods

Increased chamber height without unnecessary volume.
The chamber provides more vertical clearance for taller containers, larger-diameter bottles and thicker flexible packages.
Its compact internal volume helps limit the amount of methylene-blue solution required for full immersion, supporting more practical preparation, handling and disposal.
An independent control module for safer daily operation.
Separating the controller from the wet test area helps protect sensitive electronics from immersion fluids and simplifies service access.
The module can be positioned beside the chamber to improve ergonomics and adapt the workstation layout to the laboratory.
- Electronics outside wet area
- Flexible workstation placement
- Simplified service access
- Independent module delivery

Vacuum and pressure options in one pharmaceutical platform.
CDV Pharma can be configured for different pressure directions according to package design, test objective and applicable procedure.
Choose how the pressure differential acts on the package.

Vacuum-based testing
Reduce chamber pressure around the package for an applicable vacuum or immersion procedure.

Package pressurization
Introduce controlled gas into suitable packages for an internal-pressure bubble test such as ASTM F2096.

Pressure-assisted dye ingress
Apply external pressure so test fluid is driven toward potential package defects.
Method note: Equipment capability does not establish method suitability or compliance by itself. Pressure, vacuum, dye concentration, exposure, package preparation and acceptance criteria must be defined and validated for the application.
Configure the documentation workflow around the laboratory.
Depending on the selected Model P platform, applications and accessories, the system can support identification, printing and protected report-generation workflows.

21 CFR Part 11 note: Hardware or software features alone do not make a process compliant. Compliance depends on the complete validated configuration, user controls, audit strategy, procedures, record retention, training and the laboratory's quality system. A configurable pharmaceutical package-integrity workflow.
Select the method
Match vacuum or pressure direction to the package and test objective.
Establish parameters
Develop and approve the required levels, time, dye conditions and criteria.
Run the cycle
Use the configured controls while observing the indication required by the method.
Preserve the context
Record sample, user, parameters and results according to the quality procedure.
New CDV Pharma FAQ
Which package formats can CDV Pharma evaluate?
The increased chamber height supports a broader range of pharmaceutical bottles, containers, blisters and flexible or semi-flexible packages. Final fit must be confirmed from actual dimensions and test setup.
Can the system perform both vacuum and pressure testing?
Yes, appropriate configurations can support vacuum, internal pressurization and external pressurization. Required hardware and applications depend on the selected test method.
Why is the control module independent?
Separating it from the chamber protects electronics from the wet test area, supports ergonomic placement and simplifies maintenance access.
Does CDV Pharma automatically comply with 21 CFR Part 11?
No. Available technical controls can support a compliant workflow, but the complete configured system and user procedures must be validated for the intended regulated use.
Can options be added after installation?
The modular platform may support future applications or accessories. Compatibility and upgrade scope should be confirmed for the supplied hardware and software version.
